For over 30 years, my wife and I have proudly called the Key Peninsula home. We built and developed our property and raised our son right here in this community, deeply invested in its future. It's this deep connection that compels me to serve as your Fire Commissioner for District 16.
My candidacy is guided by core values: integrity, caring, respect, honesty, and responsibility. I understand that the Fire Commissioner role is vital for our community, demanding difficult financial decisions that directly impact staffing, equipment, facilities, and the long-term growth of our district. This is a tall task, especially with limited revenue, and it requires unwavering commitment and sound judgment.
I have a proven track record of strategic planning and fiscal management. I routinely collaborate with various departments, including the CFO and Property Development Director, to develop and schedule complex short-term and long-term capital projects, carefully integrating them into a comprehensive 5-year plan. Throughout my career, I've consistently demonstrated the ability to achieve significant results with minimal finance, always striving to be a good steward of funds and resources. This includes vital projects like revitalizing the aging Pearl Street Family YMCA building, developing Camp Seymour – from the Marine Science Center to new Dining Halls and cabins – and building the largest water system on the Key Peninsula. The water system project notably required balancing long-term needs with public opinion, and I successfully forged compromises that benefited both the camp and the community.
